Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of RefurbScore (refurbscore.com and related services). By using the platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use RefurbScore.

1. Acceptance of terms

These Terms form a binding agreement between you and RefurbScore. You accept them when you create an account, submit content, purchase a merchant plan, or otherwise use the platform. Supplemental terms may apply to specific features and are incorporated by reference.

2. Description of the service

RefurbScore is an independent trust platform for the refurbished electronics market. We publish company profiles, moderated reviews, trust scores, device passports, rankings, guides and related tools. RefurbScore does not sell refurbished devices and is not a party to transactions between buyers and merchants.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding contract to use RefurbScore. If you use the platform on behalf of a business, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

4. Accounts and security

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at support@refurbscore.com if you suspect unauthorised access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a security risk.

5. User content

You retain ownership of content you submit, but grant RefurbScore a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, display, moderate, translate and distribute it as needed to operate the platform. You represent that you have the rights to submit your content and that it does not infringe third-party rights.

6. Reviews and ratings

Reviews must reflect genuine experiences with a merchant or device. Fake, incentivised, defamatory or misleading reviews are prohibited. We moderate submissions and may remove content that violates our policies. Published reviews may remain visible to preserve trust history, subject to legal requirements and moderation rules.

7. Merchant accounts and plans

Merchants may claim profiles, submit evidence, manage passports and subscribe to paid plans. You agree to provide accurate business information and to keep it up to date. Paid plans grant access to merchant tools only; fees, billing cycles and cancellation terms are shown at checkout and in your dashboard.

8. Trust scores and independence

RefurbScore trust scores are computed from verified reviews, audits, certifications and validated evidence. Paying for a plan, advertising or API access never increases a score. We may update scoring methodology to improve fairness and transparency, without retroactively selling ranking positions.

9. Device passports

Passports document device condition and test results issued by participating merchants or labs. A passport is an informational record, not a guarantee of future performance. Buyers should verify passport details and merchant policies before purchase.

10. API and integrations

API access is subject to separate rate limits, authentication requirements and acceptable-use rules described in our API documentation. You may not scrape, reverse engineer or overload the platform. API keys must be kept confidential and rotated if compromised.

11. Prohibited conduct

You may not use RefurbScore to commit fraud, harass others, upload malware, manipulate scores or reviews, impersonate others, violate applicable law, or interfere with platform operation. We may investigate violations and cooperate with authorities where required.

12. Intellectual property

RefurbScore, its logos, scoring systems, software and original content are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify or create derivative works without our prior written consent, except as allowed by these Terms or applicable open-source licences.

13. Third-party links and services

The platform may link to merchant websites, payment providers or other third parties. RefurbScore is not responsible for third-party content, products, prices or policies. Your dealings with merchants are solely between you and them.

14. Disclaimers

RefurbScore is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. Trust scores, reviews and passports are informational and do not constitute professional, legal or financial advice.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RefurbScore and its affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, data or goodwill arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid RefurbScore in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred euros.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RefurbScore from claims, damages and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the platform, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

17. Suspension and termination

You may stop using RefurbScore at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect users and platform integrity. Provisions that by nature should survive termination (including liability limits and indemnities) remain in effect.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of France, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence provide otherwise. Courts in Paris, France have non-exclusive jurisdiction, unless local law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect legal, product or operational changes. We will post the revised version on this page and update the date above. Material changes may be communicated by email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
